Pole forked greens

i have a round booked for July, just been told they will give me a 20% discount because they plan to pole fork the greens 6 days prior .

Is it still worth playing ,

We just play for fun like , so nothing serious ,

Greens are ruined when there's sand speckles all over them. They're just not genuine greens.

20% is probably not enough of a discount IMO, unless the green fees are already very cheap.

usually 10-14 days

after 6 days and dependent on rain and growth then you might be starting be ok

It's pretty weird for a club to do this in July IMO.

if it's not too serious then you should be fine, it would bother more serious golfers as with putts the ball can tend to wiggle around a little. Good putts can miss (sometimes bad putts can hit!)

I'd imagine more info would help. A lot of courses will have 2 types of pole-forking.

The deep, heavy one and a fine aeration one that's lighter and has less impact on the surface

Needs rain for all to settle else you will be beating the ball on the green to get through all the remaining surface sand. I don't do mats or forked greens, rather go somewhere else or wait

aerating the soil to improve condition and promote grass growth, avoid compacted soil etc
