I always wondered what if you went through one at a stupidly fast speed before you copped on to it but then pulled into the rest area for 20 minutes.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

The one on the westbound carriageway of the M7 near Birdhill has a layby just before the end of the camera zone. 🤣

Wonder no more: It would calculate your average speed coming past the second camera and you would likely be OK… That is how they work, by measuring the amount of time it takes you to travel between 2 fixed points and then calculating your speed. Speed = Distance divided by Time 🙂

More knee-jerk reactive nonsense. Static cameras will be worth zero once people get to know the locations. Average speed (if they end up on the motorway stretches of the above) will just be a revenue generator and add to problems as those who don't know how they work will crawl between the 2 points.

They'll do nothing to address the dangerous overtaking and lane weaving, mobile use, poor maintenance/tyres etc that lead to the crashes in most cases.
