Volunteering and Sole trading

    Hi all,

I am a sole trader consultant in tech.

I do a lot of voluntary work for a non-profit tech advocacy group. Is there any way I can declare those hours and reduce my tax bill?

Or is there any other way in which those hours can be counted towards anything useful?

    Cheers,

    LD

In reality no there is nothing you can do

If you incurred some expenses in the course of the volunteer work you could claim them as being business expenses although this could then come back to bite you

If it's just labour for the "hours" spent then there's nothing to claim
