Unknown key

Has anybody seen a key like this before and know the brand? Been to a couple of key cutters and they didn't recognise and couldn't cut due to the profile.

An "F" in a circle isn't throwing up anything useful on Google!

Key looks like an old school Basta key. Half of rural Ireland have them, loads of places supply them, you don't get them cut, they will just be off the shelf.

Yeah i went to two shops that stocked basta's but they coudln't get anything to match. They said that Basta is written on the key and on the lock itself if it's Basta, instead i just have that "F".

Basta locks are notoriously interchangable, I presume other brands are the same, as in leeway of a mm or two. How far off were a 1 or 9, worth a punt if they line up closely. Surprised one wasn't close enough they wouldn't shave it down to see. For a few euro it would be worth trying.

The second guy made a good bit of effort and he went throught a few different brands and he even had blanks similar but he said the profile was strange and just jutted out a bit too far so he woud'nt have been able to modify anything he had to make it work.

I could just replace the lock, but all the ones in the house are this brand so be good to figure out what it is.

Could it be a EuroSpec key? They seem to use numbers similar to Basta.

Brand is Fortessa stocked by Chadwick's among others. Very common lock

Thanks a lot for that, funny that the guy in shop didn't recognise it today! Chadwicks in Gorey, where we live so that's probably where the locks were purchased! Be easy to get one so

I was going to suggest that it's a "contractor's" lock. That makes sense. No way it was a Basta.

Where did you get the spare keys? They don't seem to be available online, I'll call chadwicks tomorrow and see if they stock the keys.
