Thoughts on 2008 automatic micra

hi all,

My sister is looking for a cheap runaround for short journeys- Doesn’t need to be a motorway cruiser but she will be on the M50 once or twice a month.
She sent me on the following link and has spoken to the dealer already who said he could knock a few bob off it, what do you guys think:

You can buy one privately for less than half that. What kind of after sales are you’s expecting on a 16 year old car that warrants buying from a dealer and paying twice what the car is worth? If anything were to go on wrong on a car like that it would cost a couple of hundred quid at most.

Edit: Or heres one from another dealer, for less than half the asking price.

The reason I was looking at that is she has it in her head that she wants an automatic.

Ah okay, so automatic only. Didn’t realise that Micra was automatic. Still overpriced tho. Here’s one from a dealer that is 3 years newer for a similar price.

yeah I didn’t either until she sent me the link.
I think the automatics are jap imports kinda like the Nissan march’s- could be wrong though.

Yeah most automatics are Japanese. If she’s looking for a small petrol automatic she will be mostly looking at Jap cars. Just make sure to get an alarm/immobiliser installed if not done already.

Much more modern and safer than a 16 year old Micra. Insuring a 16 year old Micra might be difficult and more expensive too.

now that’s a decent car tbf.
Id say cash might get that for €5k which is the top end of her budget.
