in a canon 750d - hadn't been used in a few months and now battery discharges really quickly.

is there anything i can do or is it a case of replacing it?

The 750d was released 9 years ago, so I'm guessing your one is at least 5 years old at this stage.

Unfortunately, lithium-ion batteries degrade over time and use. There's noting you can do to "rejuvenate" them - the degradation is a result of chemical processes in the battery that are inherent to its operation. Good thing is that unlike many phones, the battery in a camera is easy to replace.

    You'll get a Genuine Canon one in Ireland for €60 ( https://berminghamcameras.ie/canon-lp-e17.html

Or 3rd party one for €30 https://www.duracelldirect.ie/digital-camera/canon/eos-750d-battery--2986c3.html (I got a Duracell branded battery for my old Sony Nex 7, and it works perfectly, but check to see if there's any limitations on using 3rd party batteries with your camera. For instance, some modern Sony cameras display an annoying message at startup saying "The operation and safety of this battery cannot be guaranteed", and won't show the remaining power with some 3rd party batteries)
