Low millage 161 Nissan Qashqai a good option

hi just looking at a car on Carzone came across a 161 1.5litre diesel Nissan Qashqai with only 51000km. Checked the car out and mileage is genuine. Full main dealer service history. Looking for €16500 with 1 year main dealer warranty.

This seems an extremely good deal, especially for someone on a budget with such low mileage.
Does the age of engine irrespective of the fact it has such low mileage have a bearing on its reliability?

Would I be right in saying this car with such low mileage and a full main dealer service history with 6 services within that that period would be a very good option for someone with a limited budget?

    what’s your thoughts?

I'd be concerned with the type of driving that car got. Diesel engines need to be driven on regular long drives and if it was mostly used for short journeys then that can potentially cause problems. DPF's can get blocked if the engine is not driven long enough to warm up to the optimal temperature where the soot is burned off in the DPF.

yea id say the Dpf on a 161 should be ok. regulations only got stricter as the years went on, thus more restrictive DPF filters. I have been told that some manufactures DPF give awful trouble while others don’t even short journeys 🤷‍♂️

2016 is Euro 6 emissions and we are still at Euro 6 now

Probably a Renault engine in that, also used in A class Mercs for a while. They have a pretty good reputation.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    And the Dacia Duster!

I must be very much out of the loop in car prices, is an 8.5 year old Qashqai really still worth that much?

the 1.5dci while a little unrefined is a pretty decent workhorse of an engine, had one in a fluence from 2011-2021 & 235,000km with no issues, it was getting regular long spins though, not 100% sure if it had a dpf or not.

I’d agree that I’d be a little nervous about the low mileage / type of driving but if it’s possible to verify the dpf is ok (idk?) then it’s worth a punt

Get a full pre-check done on the car

Ask if you can get the dealer to sell extended warranty on the car and off you go
