Depends what you consider expensive. Its probably cheap compared to BMW or Mercedes but expensive compared to Toyota or Honda.

When i was working in a garage there were more extras to pay for as things wore out ,suspensions and cv boots. Wont mention all those fault codes brought up.

Toyota normally just oil and filters and see you next year.

Probably have same engine as vw 2.0tdi service filters are cheap mann filters are OE so oil filler is like 10€ air around 15€ fuel around 25 so small money really. Give look on mister auto for price of filters ect if you want

Had a second hand A4 some years ago. Got it serviced every year by a great local mechanic. It was around 300 a year to get serviced. Normal wear on brake pads etc. I didn’t consider it any more expensive than if I’d had say a Toyota.
The problem is when you bring a car like that to a main dealer. Then it becomes very expensive.

Fine them very ordinary. Prefer a newer higher spec. Superb

If looking for a higher spec try Lewis Motors in Cabinteely as they get Ferraris and Bentleys and others in lately.
