Europe’s green dilemma: Mining key minerals without destroying nature

So I've been saying this for a long time, why should we accept the destruction in other countries and not in our own if we want our gadgets and Electric cars ? why is it we will continue to ignore this just so we can promote electric cars ? If there's lithium in Ireland why not extract it along with Cobalt ?
