    Hi,

I see the empty building beside the East Village is being renovated.

Anyone know what is going in there?

    Thanks.

Was that the old TSB computer centre?

Refused planning a few years ago for two apartment buildings (up to 10 storeys). New planning lodged for the East Douglas Street portion for a medical centre or something

    This was outside earlier.

    Must be another notice elsewhere

Permission for a proposed development of the premises known as the former TSB bank premise, East Douglas Street, Douglas, Cork, T12EA37. The development will consist of (1) A proposed change of use (359m2) from the permitted Class 2 use as a bank, to a consulting medical facility for the provision of various miscellaneous in and out-patient procedures, with ancillary retail, administrative, and consultancy facilities. (2) Various minor landscaping and site works necessary to facilitate the development.

They aren't demolishing it so by the looks of it.

They'd better dump asylum seekers in there. the east village hotel already has taken in quite a few.

Probably a primary care centre, moving all the individual surgeries around the area into one modern building, happening everywhere.

Hopefully something positive for the area.

Douglas has lost its charm completely.

As long as cars and parking are the main priority, Douglas will always look awful

Certain blinded retailers and ignorant councillors look set to keep it that way unfortunately. Was in outer Dublin a few days ago at a few towns/villages along the Dart line and they look brilliant. Vibrant public seating, cycle lanes, the whole lot. Buzzing.

The local antis want to keep it that way unfortunately. And why wouldn't you become reliant on the public providing your car parking facilities when you convert your entire car park to a beer garden.

It's a bit mad that the trades which moan about business being down because of drink driving laws also attack anything which might make it easier for someone to get the bus to their establishment for a few pints.
