Smell of socks in room

Strange one here, last few days a smell of socks has appeared in one area of my daughters room, its 100% not smelly socks. Can anyone shed light on this, Ive checked online but all seems to be HVAC related which we dont have being in Ireland. Its literally one area of the room by the door. Any ideas?

Dead mouse under the floor? Dog wee'd on the carpet?

Dead rodent was the fear alright so floor boards probably need to come up. Would it not be smelling more than a less specific area though? Its literally a radius of about a metere. Dog wouldnt have been upstairs so can rule that out.

Yeah would be looking at cleaning the carpet. Could be urine from pet or person. The slight draft under the door or when you open the door would emphasize the smell upwards.

if there is a socket inside the door I would be inclined to pop it off the wall and make sure all is OK behind it.

Strange thing is its only in the last 2-3 days, Id imagine its a dead mouse or something alright, The kids wouldnt be urinating on the floor and dog is never upstairs. Might try lift the floorboards and see. I assume if it is it cant just be left there?

Great point, know of a fella who has a workshop that developed a problem with the electric tripping out. Found a dead mouse behind the first socket on the line in question. Lad would be a good fault finder and checked behind the second socket to find another behind it.

What sort of dog is it? If I had a dog and a problem with a smell I'd let the dog have a sniff round the room, might be a handy way of pinpointing the problem.

The overheating/arcing socket smell is a bit more fishy than foot-y but definitely something to check. Ditto light fittings if the smell area is below one.

There is a socket in the wall right at the door, what kind of issues could it be? I did unplug everything there alright!

There is an extension lead with a monitor, grow clock, lamp and I have my head shaver plugged in there, nothing major but on the other side of the wall we have another socket with TV, Sky box Amazon Echo.

The only thing thats changed electric wise in the house is an EV charger put in last week. There has been no trips or anything in a long while. Tbh I did think it was rodent related once I smelled it!

Have you noticed any droppings around the house as this winter a lot of houses got visitors . We had them in kitchen and the poison killed them. Found bodies under the dish washer.

let the mutt have a sniff. But, I’d be inclinded to open any access point first to see if you can triangulate the issue. Lifting floorboards affect the skirting boards, plaster etc.

If it is mickey 🐭 eventually the smell will go away. Wont be too long either

A dead mouse is usually a more gassy smell, isn't it??

Light bulb sockets can often give off a fishy smell. Worth checking for discolouration. Less a problem now with low energy bulbs.
