    Hi all

Looking to do better job 2nd time around 😀

My wives ford focus died last August and I needed to sort a replacement car ASAP. First baby was only born and we needed something sharpish. We bought a 2018 1.6 Diesel Honda Civic Saloon from a dealer. She never test drove it or anything and left it to me as her hands were full at home. Honda has NCT coming up and will be looking to change after that.

She isn't a fan, finds it too low and with baby getting bigger, an issue getting baby in and out etc. At most there may be a 2nd child.

She would like a crossover style/size vehicle, like the T-Roc size, not interested in bigger options like the Skoda Kodiaq for example.

Her requirements, wants "ideally leather interior with baby and a dog, something reliable, reversing camera and sensors", does about 20 - 25k a year mileage.

We will prob put maybe max €5k with the Honda so maybe a max budget of about €20k,

What would you all be suggesting or looking at. Thanks all

T-Roc is a Polo on stilts in terms of space in the back. Just go and sit in the back of these smaller crossovers to check the size..

Isn't the T-Roc based on the Golf and the Tiago/T=Cross based on the Polo?

You could struggle to get a T-Roc on you budget. I would agree tough bearful everything fits into the car that you need.

    Sorry for nit picking.

I agree with you lots of people cam be disappointed with the space in crossovers.

    Honda HR-V.

20k will get you in an 18/19 DTEC diesel.

They are very good cars, tend to be very well cared for.

Otherwise a Skoda Karoq or SEAT Ateca could be the job. The TDIs are fine if serviced on time and with good quality lubricants.

Had been looking at the Ateca and Karoq alright, will keep in mind the Honda also

Be wary of the boot size in some of those crossovers, can be quite small, especially when buggies and all the bits and pieces that go along with kids are involved. Might sound ridiculous but it can be useful to bring the buggy and test boot size when viewing.

You could look at the Hyundai Kona too but again as mentioned the boot in these type cars are no bigger than the hatchbacks they are based on. The main benefit is the higher driving position and less bending your back getting kids in and out of the rear.

Had a Kona petrol 1.0. The boot is tiny, yes driving position is high but it's also a very noisy car especially on the motorway. Road noise is shocking.

Civic got 2 years NCT at the weekend so good time to trade or sell private.

    Kia sportage a good option??
