Vintage BMW chassis number damage

    In the process of buying a 1986 5 series, car needs work.

    straight 6 with nice body kit.

    the chassis number looks scratched..first few numbers look damaged.

    log book and paper work there..

    is this an issue with insurance on a vintage car

    No issue with insurance - definitely an issue if you need to VRT it as well as for your NCT - assuming it’s not legible.
