Going to start a clothing brand in Ireland (will buy white label top quality workwear from another country and sell in Ireland under my own brand). What steps involve in registering the business/ trade mark etc in Ireland?

Starting a clothing brand in Ireland involves several key steps:

    1. Choose a Business Structure: Decide if you want to operate as a sole trader, partnership, or limited company. Each has different legal and tax implications.
    2. Register Your Business Name: If you're using a brand name different from your own name, you’ll need to register it with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) or the relevant local authority if you're a sole trader.
    3. Obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN): If you plan to hire employees, you’ll need to register with Revenue to get a tax number.
    4. Register for VAT: If your annual turnover is expected to exceed €37,500 (for goods), you must register for VAT.
    5. Trademark Registration: To protect your brand, consider registering your trademark with the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland (IPOI). This prevents others from using your brand name or logo.
    6. Business Insurance: Look into getting relevant business insurance, such as public liability and product liability insurance.
    7. Compliance with Regulations: Ensure you comply with all regulations regarding labeling, safety standards, and import regulations for workwear.
    8. Set Up a Business Bank Account: This helps keep your personal and business finances separate.
    9. Create a Business Plan: Outline your target market, marketing strategies, and financial projections to guide your business growth.

By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to launching your clothing brand in Ireland! Good luck!
