New Build - Water Hammer

    Hi folks,

I was hoping to get some more experienced heads guidance on an issue within a recently built property.

A number of taps in the house appear to have an issue with “water hammer” namely my Ensuite, W.C and Kitchen tap. Anytime they are shut off there is a distinct rattle within the pipework/hoses that are feeding these taps.

Our original plumber (well his apprentice) came to investigate and highlighted it is not an uncommon issue within a high water pressure home and that there is nothing to worry about. (He also stated I was closing the taps too fast…)

For me the issue is A) It’s very annoying especially considering it is all new equipment and B) I am concerned it may cause damage to the pipework in the long run from reading online.

The house is block wall throughout so I am hoping he is correct as it’s not a straightforward job to get back into the pipework due to plastering and tiling etc.

I have included a video of the WC tap and Ensuite taps as examples unfortunately the sound of the water does hide some of the noise of the “rattling” but I promise you it’s not un noticeable in person.

Can anyone advise if this is something I should be concerned about and if the plumber was fobbing me off to avoid extra work?

Take it easy on those faucets. They won't last jig time with you being so rough with them.
