What Kayak to buy ? N00b

Hi,

Ive done a few hours of Kayaking over the years and I'm a strong swimmer

Im looking for an all rounder I suppose.

A hybrid bike but for the water :-)

Would like to use it for sea and river

Don't need a lot of storage

For one person, but being able to add +1 person good but not essential (looking for too much there).

Budget 4 to 800 max

Should I just buy a second hand one to begin with?

Would like to avoid doing a course if possible

Any guidance ?.

Would strongly recommend doing a course.

And even at that, it's not a great idea to go out kayaking by yourself. Always safer in number in case something goes wrong.

If you are adamant against doing a proper course, stick with sit on tops and flat water. Plenty of sit on tops to be got 2nd hand in good nick on adverts or Donedeal

There may well be clubs not listed there too, in my experience canoeing Ireland don't keep these things up to date but there's a starting point. A few clubs listed near Dalkey
