Piston soak to reduce oil consumption

I have a Volvo XC60 D4 that drinks oil, about 1l per 1500kms. It's very common on this engine and due to clogged rings.

Rather than pay for a rebuild and new pistons and rings ( anyone know how much this would cost me?) Ive seen people have success with doing a piston soak, where they put something like Berryman B12 chemtool into the cylinders and leave it to soak for a while, then doing an oil change.

I'd attempt this myself if I had spark plugs but having a diesel it means taking the injectors off and I don't feel totally able to do that.

Does anyone know a mechanic that would do a piston soak or any advice on this?
