    Hi all,

    I recently bought a new car and was told by dealership that once i pay the tax on the car to leave all the information the same on the site and the disc and log book would be posted to the garage then they would change it over to my name, when I went to pay the tax it asked me for my information so I paid the tax and the disk was posted out to me. Does that mean that the log book will be posted to me too since I paid tax on the new car for the first time? I’m worried about not receiving a log book because I know it is important.

  • edit;

    Sounds like the garage wanted to keep the car in their name for another while.

    Is it a pre reg or nearly new car or what's the story?

  • Yeah that part is a bit strange sureky. Wanting tax paid but garage left as owner until after disc and logbook arrive?

    I've seen it before when dealers had to keep registered car for 3 months to.get rebate from distributor for use as demo or whatever

    This sounds like the car is a pre reg to me.

    Same thing happened to me recently - the car was a UK import & the dealer processed the VRT etc for me.

    Tax disk arrived around 1 week before the log book arrived.

    I think you can track it via the following link:

    With a newly registered car (brand new or used import) the logbook won't be issued until the car is taxed first.

    I VRT'd an import on Friday, paid tax online on Sunday, Tax disc came on Tuesday, Log book came today (Thursday).

    OP, the log book will get posted to whoever the registered owner is. Do you know who that is? When you logged onto motortax to pay, was the garages information there, or yours?

    FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

    You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

    Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
