Criminal background checks, state or semi-state bodies

That was over 20 years ago, closer to 30 than 20 actually.
I'm applying for a job at a state body (not Garda or Military) and I just realised that I've no idea if they'll be able to see if this conviction.
Does anyone know how any of this works?

Even if the conviction is disclosed, it will not be an issue - they're looking for links to e.g. terrorism or serious crime in these checks. There are a lot of people in the public sector with minor offences in their past.
