Honda Civic starting problems

Hi lads have a Honda civic 2010 (2.2 turbo diesel) mk VIII with a hard start recently.

Turn over can take up to 10-15s and usually won’t start regardless of weather without a shot of Easi Start.

I had a garage suggest Glow Plugs which I changed all 4 on Saturday but now the problem is actually worse! 🤣

i am suspecting it is either something to do with the battery or maybe fuel injectors? The only dash warning I get is “check system!” when I hold the start button and it’s not turning over.

If I keep trying to start it eventually the battery will go flat as well and need to be jumped. Just mentioning if it’s important to know.

Do you know when the fuel filter was last changed? When you do get it started and take it for a run, will it start again straight away or does it happen again every time regardless of the engine being warmed up and just run.

no I am not sure actually! Before plugs were changed (mind these are Bosch) it would start grand from warm but now it doesn’t seem to matter. Can be 50/50 starting from warm so thinking maybe a problem with the connection or something?

The push start button used to fail on that model civic - Id be looking at that - I did used to sell a fair few of them.

didn’t think of that to be fair. Think would be best to have diagnostic check done to see if that narrows it down!

You were on the money by the way! Got the garage to have a look today and the filter was completely blocked!!
