Looking for some recommendations for summer hol destinations with two active teenage girls. On our last holiday in Bosnia & Herzagovina we did kayaking one day and rafting on another day which were both really enjoyable. Visited a really nice waterpark also with some exciting slides. More of the same again really. We also got in Dubrovnik but didn't really enjoy it that much. Super expensive and wasn’t as laidback as B&H.

thinking of Lake Garda but not sure how expensive it is there. Looking for activities that would take a half day or full day within 50km radius ideally as hopefully we’d rent a car. Would consider a campsite if there was plenty of activities there like tennis, swimming or other sports.

Other options would be surfing, cycling (rent bikes and off we go), hiking, basically anything that would keep us busy for a half or full day and tired enough that we’d appreciate the rest when we got back to the accomadation / campsite. Eastern Europe seems to be more appealing as it appears cheaper.

    Biarritz coast or Northern Spain

    Surfing, hiking, cycling, great food

Alps or Ecrins in France - cycling, hiking, white water rafting,

You could also look at the western Algarve.

Lake Garda would definitely meet your criteria, plenty of hiking, bike hire, the northern end of the lake has lots of water based activity also. Not as cheap as Eastern Europe, but would have everything you're looking for.

as you have been to Bosnia, I would suggest looking at Albania. Wouldn't be quite as organised as Bosnia, but beautiful country, plenty of hiking and kayaking. Also very cheap. Be careful driving though, I'm not joking Albanians will drive through you!

Berat, town on UNESCO list, also Gjirokastra

Buttrint, ancient town, Roman ruins, beach not far away at Ksamil.

there is a Balkans trail through Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro, it's possible to do some of the hikes.

Lake Ohrid is on the border between Albania and North Macedonia, I have only stayed in the Macedonian side, but I'm sure it's as nice on Albania side.

Lake Koman, beautiful! Near a national park and Shkoder.

Anyway! It's worth a look at, especially as you have been to the Balkans, you know what to expect.

Skip Biarritz and go straight to Northern Spain. Far better value. French pricing is off the scale for what’s 20 minutes apart
