Another Watch for Significant Birthday. Maybe something in Gold

So. A significant birthday in a few months and Mrs. says, why don't you pick a nice watch.

I am not very acquisitive, but have been thinking that a gold watch of some sort could be nice.

Allready have a recent Seamaster / JLC Reverso Duo ( 20 years old / for my 40th) / JLC Master Control Date (really like that). All SS

A bit unusual, but I do like this Omega 220.52.41.21.03.001. Not too formal, not too big, quite legible, not excessively bling.

Well depreciated on grey market for a as-new item.

My question is what might be alternative items to look at in this general style. Certainly in Dublin I rarely see anything that excites me.

That’s a decent budget.

Based on your collection you are straddling dressy sports watches. That Omega is a pretty good shout; just make sure you buy it well as you will take a serious bath other wise!

I’m guessing you’re going to be 50, how about a Seiko Pogue from the month you were born?

Edit; ooops might have gotten that wrong but Longines were doing great stuff in the 60’s you should be able to track down a good one from your birth year.

A month back a new Omega Speedmaster moonwatch 310.62.42.50.99.001 for 20% off new in the UK, Omega boutique in Belfast may have matched price.

Like others I would suggest a Vacheron 56 or Patrimony .Maybe a Rolex 1908 or previous model Cellini .All low €20k

A 1908 could be bought in Ireland also and might curry a little favour with a Rolex AD and be bundled with a submariner if that tickles your fancy in tandem.

You've the omega there and two JLC , next obvious step is Rolex but as it’s a special birthday and I assume life’s money goals are where you want them ( Obviously doing v.good if you’ve €20k for a watch so congrats ) why not really reward yourself?

Rolex at a minimum, VC next or as a real reward a Patek.
