Hi there, planning on renovating a bungalow built around 1970 and was wondering would there be asbestos between the flue and blockwork in the chimneys? as thinking of removing one of them.

I'm a bit late to the party😊 but here goes - The standard practice was to fill the gap between flue liners and blockwork with sand, for fire safety reasons and to allow flues to expand & contract as they heat/cool down.
