    Hello all,

I moved recently (early February 2024) to Ireland from NI and brought my car with me.

As stated in the revenue i have to make the VRT appoitment within 30 days of arriving to the state. In terms of payment, I read that I have to paid the full amount of VRT unless I have an exemption letter.

I have started the process to obtain the exemption letter from Customs but I will not get an answer before the VRT appoitment. Does it mean i have to pay the full VRT amount?

    Any comments will be helpful.

It means that you should defer the VRT appointment.

when you say that you have started the process, what do you mean? Have you submitted the application form plus all supporting paperwork to Revenue (not Customs)? If not, get on and do it.
