Travels with Herodotus by Ryszard Kapuscinski. This is the famous journalist travelogue of the various places he visited through his career along with his copy of the Histories. While not all the places mentioned by Herodotus' stories were covered, Kapuscinski acts in the spirit of the ancient author as he attempted to interpret local peoples and their customs. Well worth the read.

Penguin Classics publish his "Histories", which is the story of the Greeks war with the Persian Empire, in English. Go to O'Mahony's bookshop in Limerick or google theirwebsite and search for his name. They'll deliver.
