The first 2024 outings for the Irish Railway Record Society have now been announced.

16th March 2024: Outing to Mallow Level Crossing Control Centre and Lartigue Monorail in Listowel.

An outing has been arranged to travel to Mallow and Listowel to see the Mallow Level Crossing Control Centre (LCCC) & South Cabin and visit the Lartigue Monorail and Museum on Saturday 16th March 2024. The outing will travel from Dublin Heuston to Mallow & Tralee by Iarnród Éireann service train and between Tralee & Listowel via private coach. Persons can join the outing at Dublin Heuston or Mallow.

Bookings for this outing open on Wednesday 14th February 2024 at 09.00 and should be made via Eventbrite.

The closing date for this outing is Monday 4th March 2024 so we can finalise travel arrangements with our transport partners.

    18/19th May: Time's Arrow Railtour

We are delighted to announce, the Time’s Arrow” railtour has been arranged for Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th May 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Tokyu Car Corporation 2600 Class Railcars, which entered service on Monday 16th May 1994 with the launch of the "ARROW" suburban service between Dublin Heuston & Kildare. The railcars were also used on suburban services to Maynooth, Drogheda / Dundalk and weekend Intercity services to the likes of Cork, Galway, Waterford & Limerick. Nowadays, the fleet is allocated to Cork for use on the suburban network to Cobh, Midleton, Mallow with selected weekend work to Tralee.

With thanks to Iarnród Éireann, we are going back in time to the 1990’s by taking a 2600 Class railcar from Cork to Dublin to explore the suburban system, visiting old haunts and new locations, including Dublin Heuston, Adamstown Bay Platform, Grand Canal Dock Bay Platform, Dundalk, Howth, Dublin Connolly, Maynooth and M3 Parkway. We plan to cover both the MGWR & GSWR routes between Connolly and Glasnevin Jct.

But that isn’t the end of it. Following an overnight stay in Dublin, on Sunday we will recreate the famous 1220 Heuston – Cork non-stop "ARROW" express of the late 1990’s from Dublin Heuston to Cork, but with the added bonus of a non-stop run from Dublin Heuston to Cobh. After a short break at Cobh to stretch our legs from the 177-mile journey, we will retrace our steps as far as Cork where the tour will conclude.

Bookings for this outing open on Wednesday 14th February 2024 at 09.00 and should be made via Eventbrite.

For full details of each outing and how to book tickets please visit our eventbrite page at https://irrs.eventbrite.com/to book.

Both outings are also open to non-members as well. For any queries please PM myself or email programme@irrs.ie
