Brake squeaking intermittently

    Hi,

I started hearing brake squeaking sound couple of weeks ago. It usually starts in the morning and goes away after a few minutes driving. It might come and go again but usually for a short period of time. Today I drove the whole day and didn't hear any squeaking sound. I think that this is probably caused by some debris, but I want to rule out that it's not due to the brake pads tickness. My front bake pads and disks were replaced about 20k kms ago, and therefore I think that it's probably due to the rear brake pads.

I attached a picture of both corners and would love to hear your thoughts whether it's time to change them or not. In the last service (less than 3k kms ago), my mechanic said that there was 4mm left on the rear pads.

    Thanks!

Those discs are toast. The pads still have a bit left in them but if you replace the discs you need to replace the pads aswell

Thanks. Curious to know why you think that the discs are bad? My mechanic told me that they were fine when he last checked them less than 3k kms ago.

mine are the same, uneven surface on discs but not dangerous or anything, I will wait for another while before replacing them.

They aren't really bad as in dangerous ,they are worn. Look at the lip at the edge, the pads have worn into the disc over time. I've driven with similar, he was probably looking to save you money not replacing them at the time but I would be replacing the discs and pads in say another 2-3k, so he got you an extra 6k or so out of them.
