Hi all my OH moved here to study, then got a 1G Visa to work. While working she applied for and was granted a critical skills visa - that was 23 months ago. She continued to work for the same employer, and continued to live in Ireland. Burgh Quay was closed, and because they didn't make it very clear. she didn't register her new permission.

I think she only "registered" this time last year when she renewed her IRP card. So she wants to switch from her critical skills permit to a Stamp 4 - but you can only do that once you've been on a Critical Skills Visa for 21 months, in the Irish Immigration system she's only been on for 12.

We're both pretty stressed out. It's not clear what will happen to her next month or what we are supposed to do. Will her Critical Skills Permit run out (it was only granted for two years)? Could she get in trouble for theoretically working here illegally between her 1G expiring and her registering her Critical Skills Permit?

Does anyone know how we can actually get an appointment in GNIB or talk to someone on the phone?
