Septic Tank Pumps

We bought a house last year. The “distribution board” for the 3 pumps in tank was switched off. We have realised that this is due to the fact that it intermittently trips out.

But I’m interested to understand the need for these pumps. Research indicates that:

    Pump 1 aerates chamber 2

Pump 2 pumps back some water from chamber 2 to chamber 1

Pump 3 pumps water from chamber 2 to distribution box to percolation area (not needed as gravity would do the job)

Is there any real benefit running/maintaining all these pumps??

Our last few houses had septic tanks without any pumps and they worked just fine.

    thanks

Build a standard septic tank with soakaway beside existing one (if soil / ground etc. is suitable)
