Accomodation in Sydney

Hi all, My hubby and I hoping to go to Sydney in Oct for a month but have been checking accommodation..it's exorbitant even the airbnb's..we need to stay around Coogee or Randwick if possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
