Accomodation in Australia

Hi all, My hubby and I are hoping to go to Sydney in Oct for a month buy I've been looking up accommodation..omg the hotels are very very expensive and even the airbnb's are above our budget..just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. We're hoping to stay around Randwick if possible. We're in our 60's. TIA.
