So...

If my NCT expired in Feb 2023 and I pass next week.. Do I get a cert valid until Feb 2024 or 2025?

If it is 2024, I will need to rebook a double test to make it valid for the coming year?

Can I ask them to test it twice? (Ridiculous I know, but no more silly then testing a car, certifying it safe...... for last year)

I get the fact that giving a year ceart could be seen as an incentive for delaying getting the test... but it is a bit silly.. charge me an extra €5 for every month it is late maybe?

Feb 2025 if car is 10 years old.

2 years from date of test if the car is 90 days before it's 10 years old.

Sometimes you’ll only get a 6 month NCT if you let if go over a year, or very close to a year. Something like that.

Happened with my current car. Tested around Sept last but was only valid till January. Previous owner simply couldn’t get an app before they sold it to garage.

Thats the cvrt test, the NCT goes by anniversary so it gets a test until the anniversary of when its due regardless of when its done unless its within 90 days of the anniversary date then its for 1 year plus the days until the anniversary

The previous owner didn't try to get an appointment before the NCT expired. Everyone I know who went on the waiting list or called got a test before their NCT expired.

Probably not, but nevertheless I think User1998 is correct that they may only get a 6 month cert not a 12 month.

Yeah but if you let it lapse for more than a year I don’t think you’ll get a years test I think they only give 6 months in that case

From my understanding a test due in Jan 23 that’s not done til June 23 still only valid til Jan 24.

edit: should add if that’s the case then it surely couldn’t be that you’d get a year out of it if you’re past a year overdue.

Like if you’re test expires in Jan 2023, you don’t have one til Jan 2024, you surely don’t get a certificate til Jan 2025.

No you get a full year, the cvrt you only get 6 months
