    Anyone tell me what is the nearest / quickest beach to Castlebar ?

    For a nice sandy beach, Old Head is probably closest. There'd be rocky/stoney beaches closer though, maybe Newport?

    Bertra is probably the closest sandy beach.

    Pontoon beach is nearest. On a lake near Foxford. Not the prettiest nor the sandiest, its close though and never packed.
