Highly recommend the house of terror museum- https://terrorhaza.hu/en & the Communist statue park - https://www.mementopark.hu/en/home/

The baths and the castle are on the hop on hop off bus route. The ruins bar is well worth a visit.

Expected more suggestions so I'll throw up a few more of my own- google them and decide if they are what you want.

Across the river from the Gelert Baths - most famous (?) and central, (we went to Szenchyi baths though) is the Great Market Hall - take bridge over river to Market hall, great architecture both (very photographic) and hall also well worth a visit to grab some food on the go or brunch.

Visit Budapest Parliament Building and when you go to the Castle get coffee/lunch at the Fisherman's Bastion - it's across the river from the Parliament - great view.

I think they are on the river bank outside (or very near to) the Parliament building - there are bronze shoes on the river bank - it's a memorial to Jewish along the lines of the famine statues at the IFSC

Hosek Tere (Heroes Square) - square with large monument - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes%27_Square_(Budapest)

Depending on the weather, boat trip on the Danube.

There used to be a boat restaurant near to Chain Bridge (Intercontinental Hotel) -views of the castle and chain bridge and price was reasonable for a 'special dinner'.

Budapest is very walkable especially if you have a few days - explore down beside the river.

    Good choice, you'll love it.

If you're up for a bit of craic, check out Sparty at the Budapest Baths: https://sparty.budapest-baths.com/ - Don't drink the water, we swam passed people shagging in the water!!

The Ruin bars - all of them, check them out

We also went on a boat booze cruise - all ages, great craic, only 2 of us but made friends on the boat and stayed drinking with them, roaming around the city after

Great city and cheap (compared to Ireland). Don't let the un-friendliness of the Hungarians put you off... it's their nature, nothing personal.
