Got my renewal letter in the post and it says in red:

"Please note that to certify a Telescopic Sight as defined by Section 1(g)(i) Firearms Act 1925 as amended, a new application on FCA1 seeking a Restricted Firearm Certificate to the Divisional Chef Superintendent is now required"

Is this just in relation to thermals and NV or what's the story? Haven't seen it before and couldn't find info elsewhere.

    Nv and thermal only.

Section 1(g)(i) describes NV and IR/Thermal only.

Some people have generalised it as “electronic scopes” or “any scope with a battery” but that’s incorrect and would include scope outside of the NV and IR/Thermal.
