I'm looking for a bracket to allow me to install a pole for a satellite dish on a 7cm x 7cm square metal post.

A "Shelley clamp" would be ideal if it were wide enough, however I measured the one linked below and it was only 5.5cm wide between the U bolt.

    Can anyone suggest an alternative?

I don't think any Shelly clamp is going to have a big enough gap within its "square" to fit over a 7cm x 7cm square pole. A balcony bracket might also be suitable, but again there would need to be at least a 70mm gap between the inside of the U brackets for that to work.

If you can somewhat DIY it, it's not impossible to do this using a generic wall bracket, some threaded rods (M6 minimum, M8 probably better), some good stainless steel bolts & washers and a couple of thick metal strips that won't easily bend when pressure is put on them when screws are tightened - in the past I've used some 20mm aluminium box tubing (2mm thick) to help secure a wall bracket to a cement fence pole. The more professional installers on here might be able to better advise.

Thanks. I was looking at brackets like the one below, but I'll need to find out if the plate hole centres are wide enough, then hopefully find square U-bolts to match (or threaded rods and metal strips, as you suggest).

This would probably work as well - I'd just need to get longer bolts and a separate pole:

Either one of those linked could work well though it is important to visualise what way you look to have a bracket or clamp on. Ask for dimensions from the seller if you need to. Also, the bracket in the first one at 20cm might not be long enough if the the face of the dish dish is going to be near-parallel to the horizontal element of the pole, so that is worth checking

I've attached a pic here of a DIY "clamp" that holds a bracket to a 10cm wide concrete pole for supporting fencing that is firmly cemented into the ground, using threaded bar and 20mm aluminium box tubing. IIRC the distance between the holes on the bracket is 12cm (each direction), so fits rather snugly. Something like this, albeit maybe slightly reduced in dimensions, should work on a 7cm x 7cm square metal pole that is secure & won't move.
