HI,

I use this handy site for checking the weather on mountains: https://www.mountain-forecast.com/

Screen grab below of what it looks like, what do ye reckon the '-' (dash) means in regard to cloud base? Just no cloud at all or the opposite

I don't know, but usually if you click on the two green arrows to expand the entry for that day the "-" disappears. I use that site too but find the wind speeds it shows for the summits are sometimes a bit crazy.

fog is the only thing i can think of, our current weather situation is perfect conditions for such.....

Come to think of it, looking at that all the lines = none or zero/ground level in this case, so fog it is.

Crazy as in high? Or crazy as in too low?

I have found that on the summits the wind can be several times stronger than even 50m lower.

I actually mailed the support team in mountain forecast. Their response was;

”The - (dash) means no figure can be associated with the cloud base = no significant cloud”
