VW Golf Keyless start faulty

2014 (Mk7) Volkswagen Golf 1.4tsi with keyless start, keyless entry as options.
I started getting a “Keyless start faulty” notification every time I unlock the car (when key is in range). Notification remains on while driving and sometimes disappears and reappears a second later. No issue unlocking the car and starting it. Key battery not the issue as they are new.
Any ideas before I spend heavily on diagnosing the problem in a garage?
