Looking to get a recommendation for a good independent mechanic within 30 mins or so if Dublin 9. Have a jap import 2013 A5 2.0 petrol automatic and the engine management light has come on. Only 120k km on the clock, done 7k km in the 16 months I've owned it. No noticeable issues, sounds, running problems but would prefer to get it checked out.

Doesn't seem to be much online about them, any anecdotes or experience to share?

John Keaney is in business for many decades. I've seen new premium marques in there, sent by the main dealers for work.

Seriously, they’re about as solid mechanic-wise as you can find.

John Keaney has been there as long as I can remember, I believe he raced (& won!) in Mondello back in the day.

His mechanic (also called John) has the most ridiculous tool collection I’ve ever seen, always kept in absolutely perfect order with not a spanner out of place! I’m not joking, the man is an artist when it comes to anything with an engine in it!

My Dad (retired now) trained as a mechanic & later as a specialised auto-electrician, there’s only one place he takes his cars to be serviced.

I myself trained & worked as an auto-electrician for many years, there’s only one place I bring my cars to be serviced.

Together, they’re the two grumpiest men I’ve ever known 😂😂😂 but once you get passed that they really are among the best mechanics in the city.

Rang this morning, was informed that they have over 3 weeks work in the shop and was referred to Cassin repairs who are next door. Called them and am bringing the car on Saturday.
