    Hi

my child has had a serious injury and is in a wheelchair for at least couple months and highly restricted movement wise and will be absent from school for the foreseeable , is there any external resources out there to help with keeping up with the academic studies. Have obviously been in contact with the school.

    thanks

Sorry to hear it.The school is best placed to give you what's best suited to your child's specific needs. What class are they in?

    thanks

Are you concerned about maths , English and Irish or all of the curricular areas? Without knowing what specific topics the class is covering and your child's ability, it's going to be hard for people to suggest websites. I'd consider some project based work- in digital form . How is their touch typing? What system do they use in the secondary school - could you be working on those?

The DES here are behind the Scoilnet site, it has a large collection of resources/links, some better than others.

BBC bitesize has been archived, but there are still some good resources on it,https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/primary#ni

Kahoot has quizzes on various topics, but could get a bit monotonous after a while

    For maths :

    https://nrich.maths.org/9084

Topmarks Hit the Button is good for maths facts practice,

    https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/category/22/most-popular has some free games

    https://www.primarygames.co.uk/

Some good resources online are adaptive- they test the child and then adapt to the specific areas the child needs to work on, but many of them charge for usage

IXL maths is subscription based. https://ie.ixl.com/membership

    English wise:

https://readingeggs.co.uk/ has a senior section called Reading Eggspress, again, subscription based, but you could sign up for the trial and see what they think.

For writing I'd suggest your child do 15 minutes of free writing twice a week at least. That's where they write on a topic of their choosing . There are some prompts here if you need them. The focus is on organising thoughts and getting them onto paper, rather than spelling and grammar. They can always review those at another time.

For Irish you could try the Cod na Gaeilge app and https://seideansi.ie/rang-a-tri-se.php

There's a real shortage of good quality content in Irish games etc.
