Looking for OBD dongle that will work with leaf Spy

So, that's the objective, is there anyone in Ireland that has a known good OBD dongle on the shelf that will work with Leaf Spy, I'm not prepared to risk the likes of E-Bay or the chinese sites, as most of the OBD ELM327 stuff on those sites is likely to not work based on the comments in the Leaf Spy help, and I've got two that were got a few years ago and neither of them will work, so that's the reason for the query, it seems that this is another of these wonderful catch 22 issues.

Went with the Veepeak, as it was available from stock on Amazon, and it's arrived, and seems to be working with Leaf Spy, which is giving me information that looks meaningful, now all I have to do is work out how to make sense of the new information I have access to, it looks like we've got a reasonable package with it, the battery SOC is acceptable for the age and mileage, so all we can do for now is see how it goes, thanks to everyone that responded, the problem was the ELM327 dongles I had here, they were got a number of years ago, at a time when there were a number of suspect devices being put out, and clearly these were not viable devices for the Leaf.

I think that it's important to review the "QC" count as that's the indication on how many times the battery has been quick charged (DC) and that is a leading inducator to the health of the battery.

OT but what would you say if I claimed that the leafs with very low QC count and 3.3 kW/granny charging history only, usually have lower SOH than the ones that were used more? Some people on the nissan forums are saying that even the cars with lazy battery modules can sometimes be brought back in life after driving them hard and using plenty of rapid charging (ensure the battery doesn't overheat though).

The SOH figure on our old 151 L24 and the current 161 L30 seem to always go up a bit when we QC charge. After we last rapid charged I noticed that the battery stayed at 18% SOC for at least 5 kilometres on that day, i.e. the BMS figured out that there were suddenly several hundred watt hours of extra capacity available as far as it was was concerned. Our current 161 had only a couple of handfuls of QCs in 6 years before we bought it and was exclusively granny charged based on that the type2 lead was dead and the granny charger looked well used and it had a shockingly bad SOH figure of about 55% before Nissan's update brought it back to 78%. Since then it has been howering between 76-80% depending on how that car was used.

Maybe all of the high-QC cars are already off the road? A 2012 one which I drove for a time had greater than 600 QC's and was only getting around 40km's from a full charge.

Fast charging to "improve" the battery I suspect is a glitch in the calculations rather than actually fixing a worn battery. I suspect the range estimations and state of health just are confused for while but settle down later. I can't see how fast charging a battery can help it in reality.

I read a paper back in the day that high charging currents and increased heat can break unwanted accumulated deposits that have trapped free lithium and therefore reveal more atoms that then have free electrons available again. Something along those lines.

In lithium ion batteries managing metallisation of lithium is important for longetivity of the cells, I hear, and sometimes working them hard can be good, apparently.
