Hi. These fell out of the bottom (I think) of my sliding door. It doesn't go very smoothly on the rail now, I think these were guides of some sort. What are they called does anybody know? Are they broken? Trying to figure out what to do but Google isn't helping when I don't know the name of them. Any help appreciated!

Sorry I shoudl have put something in for scale on mine, the parts that fell out seem very small compared to anything I can find when I look at rollers.

(Ignore the tokens on the left of photo they just happened to be on the table)

EDIT: I'm guessing I just need to find really smaller rollers as any I see in replacement videos online semm to be larger. Guess I'll have to take the broken part out and try to find a replacement!

Ok, well they still appear to be part of the roller mechanisim, especially by way of their markings. I wonder are they ceramic bearings for the roller-wheel, do they feel ceramic (cold to the touch and heavier than plastic)?

From memory I think they felt ceramic but nor at home to confirm. I think I'll have to take out the current roller and see what it is and then look for replacement in any event. I saw a decent youtube video on a way to remove without taking the door down (remove the lenght of aluminium frame where the handle is). I'm away this weekend but might get a chance to do it Sunday!

I had a guy do it (look up sliding door repairs), it took him about an hour and a bit. They can be heavy beasts - do be cautious.

thanks, yeah i'll see if i can do the quick way suggested in the video as i won't need to take it off. If the door is welded together I'll need to take it off. If taking it off might get somebody to do it. How recently did you get it done? And what was a rough cost?

(did think about replacing the door as it's quite old but a new PCV looks like ballpark €2,500 fitted!)

It was 2020 and the cost was around 180, I think.

So I've found where all the small wheels were coming from. Can't find anything like these online though, struggling to remove them. Took the two screws off but still not getting anywhere. I'll try again at half time during of the match!

I got it out, it was fixed from above so had to take off bottom bit of door. The screw was rusty but got it drilled out. Nothing online looks like this so think I'll try a set of rollers that look to similar dimensions.. No model number or even brand name on it

I had a Google, I have a feeling that it might be called a caramic roller cassette, but nothing similar is coming up.

Try send a message to so.e of the suppliers and repair places, someone will know and supply.

I took a chance on these. They look too be the right dimensions, fixing screws in right place, my rail on the frame is 5mm think so the 6.2mm groove on the wheel should be good. I'll find out Tuesday!

Just an update in case anybody finds themselves in similar situation.

The rollers from amazon did work. I had to mix and match the screws supplied with the old ones to get things the right length but the door is now reinstalled. I used a little set of skates to move the door to and from the shed to work on, heavy enough to move on your own but was able to manage to lift on and off the door.

The best way i found was to have the rollers at a low height and put the door on. Lifit the door up as high as the top of frame allows and line up the roller as you lower. Then tighten then lower the roller using the screw so it's taking the weight of the door. Do the same the other side.
