Anyone ever spliced a satellite cable to extend it?

Wondering if this is possible?

Changed tv and the satellite cable coming in is about 6 inches too short to reach the socket on the new tv.

I had hoped feeding the tv directly would allow me to get rid of a set top box and a remote from my setup.

I am sure you can get a coupler, and then add a regular sat cable to it.

I've done it before but its been a while.

Very easy, I have done it many times.

Simply take your existing cable, with Male connector, put a little Female-to-Female adapter onto it, and then use another standard cable with male F connectors on the other side. Works a treat, and will have very little signal loss if your connectors are of reasonable quality.

Yes, my satellite cables ( 4 ) come into a patch panel in plant room upstairs ( network, coax, mvhr ) and from there are patched to whichever room downstairs. 2 to ZGemma H7S, 1 to TV in a different room. Wall boxes is rooms are also couplers so the satellite cable is joined using F-Couplers 3 times between dish and box and works perfectly.
