Firstly, I am well aware of the reputation of the area but budget won't allow a purchase elsewhere.

Looking at purchasing a new build in Carrigbrook. It's on the same road as John Sweeney, Burrin Manor, the laurels etc but right at the back.

Is the area as bad as it used to be? House itself is perfect. The estate seems clean and well looked after.

Would love some feedback from people who either live there or know the area well!

It's difficult to give an answer. Some folk on here will tell you it's a grand area while others will tell you to avoid it at any cost.

You have a few schools close by which is good, and town is quite close with all the shops that you need. Honestly anything you need is quite close. (Except a hospital which is in Kilkenny, however there is a Caredoc about a 10 minute drive from Tullow Road)

Would I like to live near John Sweeney Park? Probably not, but if the house is as good as you say then maybe it's worth going for it.

No matter where you live in Carlow, you won't be too far from some undesirables but you could say the same about any estate in any town in Ireland.

Tullow Road has easy access to schools (gaelscoil, Askea and Pres), churches and Lidl and you'd drive to the Fairgreen in a few mins. Couple of soccer clubs in the area, as well as Askea and Eire Og gaa. SETU perfectly doaable via bus.

Suggest you drive around the area of a night and see how you feel
