where are flat rate expenses on the Form 11

I presumed they would be under personal tax credits but I can't see them, anyone know can they even be claimed under form 11?

It's buried in a huge amount of detail. Work from home expenses in the same section if they're applicable to you also.

It is indeed a PITA. I was incorrectly registered for income tax, they sorted my partner out but not me, so I finally gave up trying to sort through myenquiries and registered for ROS to both file the form 11 for last year and also unregister for income tax. The myaccount version is so much easier with everything prepopulated with the only allowable values. Thanks again.

Follow on question while i have you here, I have deregistered for income tax, as has my partner so it should all be taken care of via my account this year, in regards the prelimnary tax payment at the end of the 2023 Form 11. I have put in 0 as it will all be taken care of via my PAYE but they have a hefty wawrnign about fines, I presume I am right though and that as I am now unregistered, I don't need to pay preliminary tax.

Correct, you're a paye earner and for whatever reason you've been registered for income tax. Don't worry about paying preliminary tax.

And when you de-register for income tax make sure that the date of cancellation is in 2023, not today's date for example, or you'll have to file a form11 for 2024.

Any idea why they registered you for income tax in the first place?

They somehow registered my wife as a sole trader (she wasn't), and as we were jointly assessed, I also got registered for income tax. She is an unpaid director of a ltd company and I think that's how it started. I got that sorted out for her, they deregistered her and corrected all of her stuff. Unfortunately I was left as is.

That makes no sense if you are jointly assessed , they wouldn't have you on income tax and her on paye.

Hopefully all sorted now anyway, and a nice lump sum as they had reduced my tax credits due to the supposed income tax. All's well that ends well. To be fair, it's rare Revenue make an error and I think it was one of those weird, computer says no after they fixed the first error.
