Repairing a 12.9 inch iPad Pro

Right, so I dropped my 5th Generation M1 iPad Pro in the bath.

Stupid I know. Had it for ages and managed to avoid even scratching it. I took it out immediately, dried it off and it seemed to be fine. Watched a movie on it for another hour and checked it was still working before bed. It was. But the next morning, it was dead and wouldn't charge or start.

Brought it to an official Apple repair shop who quoted me €950 to repair it. So that's not happening. A brand new one is €1450 and there's an M3 version out in March apparently, so there's no way I'm buying a new one, and I can't afford to pay €950 to repair it.

Does anyone have any experience getting a water damaged iPad Pro repaired successful by a non-Apple repairer? I'm guessing they don't really want to repair it and that quoted fee is to replace it with a refurbished model.
