    hi all,

we have a desktop which is about 10 years old with an ASUSTek A58E (FM2+) mobo and a 1TB Toshiba DTO1ACA100 HDD (120GB used), AMD A8-7600 CPU, 8GB DDR3 RAM whichis used daily.

There is 1 partition C Drive with the OS (Windows 10 uptodate ) and all the data and is painfully slow, the HDD light being almost permanently lit even under relatively low use. We are thinking about increasing the RAM to say 16GB, adding a 2nd HDD or SSD for the data but kinda think we might be wasting our money considering Windows 11 has been out for a while with Windows 12 out soon enough.

We have removed as much rubbish as we can, run antivirus to see if theres anything and nothing there.

Is it worth doing anything upgrade wise or just use it until it dies?

    Regards,

    HPMan

    Bin it TBH

You can get a mini PC for 300eur or less that will run rings around it & sip power.

It's worth adding an SSD for €20, it will feel like a brand new machine.

I wouldn't bother doing anything else, 8GB is still passable for now for casual use.

You'd get a PC 2nd hand for €100 that would include an SSD and be faster as well.
