I need a SIM to put into my house alarm as a backup to broadband... What's the best one to get & how often, by how much do I need to top it up?

The problem with prapaid sims and data is that you'd need to top them up every month to have consistent access to data. Three does one for €15 per month.

You could also look into the likes of 48.ie, Clear Mobile or GoMo but these are monthly subscriptions at around 12.99 to 14.99 per month.

Lycamobile has data-only plans for €3.99 per month for 3GB
