Monitor refresh rate opinions

Hi,

I recently built a new computer but kept my existing monitor. The existing monitor is 1440 @65Hz.

I have been looking at upgrading (limited to IPS, OLED is not an option price-wise) and was initially thinking 1440 @240Hz but they are kind of hard to find and expensive. So the question, is it worth upgrading to 160Hz, would there be a noticeable difference? Should I really be holding out for a 240Hz? Not entirely sure I would get the frame rate for 240Hz at 1440 anyway (using RTX4070).

It depends on what type of games you play. If you play first person shooters then the high refresh rate could be an advantage. If however you play RPGs or simulations then I don't see the high refresh rate being an advantage over something like 120 hertz.

Personally I see the ultra high refresh rate monitors only really being useful for those who play competitively where there is money on the line.

I'd prioritize a screen that has good colour accuracy over a ultra high refresh rate.
