Dog pooping inside

    Hi,

Our dog is about 1 now. Occasionally when we’re not in the house for a few hours. We come back to poop on the kitchen floor.

We have a dog run out in the back garden so our least favourable option is to purchase a custom made kennel that is really well insulated. But he does bark a lot by nature so don’t want to fall out with our good neighbours.

Another option I was thinking of was to purchase a poop pad which I saw online and maybe a spray to encourage the dog to poop in one place if it really must so it’s easier to contain dispose of.

Has anyone had this issue or any advice?

If you are not there to let them out what are they supposed to do? if you had to go poo how long could you hold it in for.

this is just one of the facts of having a pet.

you could try the pad or even (depending on the size of the dog) you could get a cat litter tray or similar and train the dog to use the tray.

Take your dog for a decent walk before you leave him in the house to give him a chance to poo and then also sleep when he gets back.

We have a six month old puppy , so he is a bit younger but here is what we have done to relative success.

Set meal times and set qty, take the food away if he doesn't finish it and add it to next meal. They will soon learn to finished

No feeding besides when in training and at that try to use the same food as 'treats'

Back to basics toilet training, go outside with them and use one word 'toilet'

Minute they go treat and back inside.

Document everything , time fed , times peed , times pooed .

They will soon learn a routine and you will learn theirs.

There isn't a quick fix , hard work will pay off

    Best of luck
